Monocrystalline silicon

Silicon single crystal is a kind of crystal with basic and complete lattice structure. It has different properties in different directions and is a better Peninsula material.

Polysilicon

It is a form of elementary silicon. When molten elementary silicon solidifies under supercooled conditions, silicon atoms are arranged into many nuclei in the form of diamond lattices. If these nuclei grow into crystalline grains with different orientations on the crystal plane, then these grains combine to form polycrystalline silicon.

How to Choose Solar Street Lamp Panels

Next, look at the differences between monocrystalline silicon and polycrystalline silicon.

1. Physical properties:

The anisotropy of mechanical, optical and thermal properties of polycrystalline silicon is not as obvious as that of monocrystalline silicon.

2. Conversion rate:

The photoelectric conversion efficiency of monocrystalline silicon solar panels is about 17-24%. Polycrystalline silicon is usually 14-19%. The performance of single crystal silicon is better than that of polycrystalline silicon.

3. Price:

Generally speaking, the price of monocrystalline silicon is higher than that of polycrystalline silicon.

After reading the above brief explanation, the first feeling will be that single crystal silicon is superior to polycrystalline silicon in other aspects besides its high price, is it not? In fact, it is not entirely correct, because silicon wafers are also divided into many grades, such as A-grade polycrystalline silicon photoelectric conversion rate is better than some poor grade single crystal silicon and the price is affordable. Secondly, the solar street lamp is composed of battery panels, storage batteries and controllers. If only a single component has good performance, it is not feasible. It needs the cooperation of each component.
